This Thursday, Feb. 14, Valentine's Day, women and men across the globe will be gathering in various locations to dance and perform other acts of self-expression in order to speak out against the sexual violence that many women face daily. According to the movement's website, www.onebillionrising.org, the events have been planned to “shake the world into a new consciousness."

One of these events will be taking place locally at the Prana Yoga and Healing Center, 3840 S. Osprey Ave, Sarasota, FL, between 5:15 and 6:15 p.m. For more information, I spoke with Stephanie Heidemann, whose organization Authentic Voicework is hosting the event.
