EPISODE DESCRIPTION

By Tyler Whitson.
Recorded 2013-04-11.
Air date: 2013-04-17.
Broadcast version.

Global Brigades, which describes itself as the world’s largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization, has various chapters throughout the world that work to improve human rights and health standards in areas of the world where people often struggle. The Global Brigades chapter at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, often referred to as LECOM, is currently raising funds to send at least 22 medical students and health professionals to Honduras from May 26 to June 1. There, they will offer desperately needed medical and infrastructural assistance to members of a small community that lacks the resources to offer adequate health services to residents.

For more information about the trip, I spoke with Thomas Murray, a graduate medical student at LECOM and Global Brigades member who will be taking part in the trip.
